We understand that every homeowner is unique, which is why we promise to be committed and enthusiastic from the beginning to the end of your project journey.

Feasibility

If you are considering purchasing a new property or changing an existing home, MichaelJane can engage with you prior to any commitment in order to understand the architectural merits of the property to ensure your vision can be achieved. We are able to establish if the property can provide the accommodation you require, but does it fit with your lifestyle and budget. We make sure you have comfort in the knowledge that your chosen property can indeed become your dream home.

Planning Permission

MichaelJane will manage the process by submitting your approved design whilst considering all the correct planning procedures. This is in order to obtain the required permission from your local council to proceed with the plan submitted for approval. This is necessary if you are extending or changing your property beyond the limits defined by the requirements of the local authority. Our experience with these councils helps us track the progress and give you regular updates and feedback.

Building Regulations

These are the standards set by local authority that are implemented to help protect people’s safety, health and welfare. These are carefully regulated and designed to improve conservation of power and to protect but sustain development. They cover aspects such as construction, foundations, damp proofing, stability of the building, insulation, ventilation etc. Michael Jane Architecture understands these requirements and will monitor and track the progress with the Building Control Department of your local council.

Architectural Design

MichaelJane will engage with you and provide you with exciting design solutions that maximise the potential of your home. We guarantee we will come up with ideas you had not even thought of and will inspire you. If you are wanting to expand your property or remodel, our experience and knowledge will help you optimise the potential of your land or home.

Structural Requirements

Structural analysis is important as it evaluates whether the design will be able to withstand external and internal stresses and forces. MJA appoints a qualified professional to evaluate your drawings and determine the requirements and all structural calculations. These will include items such as load bearing walls, removal of walls and installing l-beams, chimneys, foundations and ceilings.

Project Management

MJA offers as little or as much help with your project management as you desire. We offer a comprehensive service from overseeing the selection of an accredited builder to detailed oversight and ensuring compliance and build quality throughout the project. MJA will manage your queries with the contractors, monitor safety, check insurance and party wall notices and build over agreements. We also provide you with all the ‘before you build’ information needed to keep your project running smoothly.

Interior Design

We believe the way in which the use of colour and texture, fixtures and fittings of your home are considered as integral to the overall vision, and should become a natural extension to the architectural design. Our team can guide you to make the right material choices, or prepare detailed mood boards for you that will bring the design and use of materials together to ensure your vision is delivered perfectly without hassle.

Schedule of Works

The purpose of the MJA schedule of work is to prepare a document that will lead the way to create clarity with regards to all the finishes going into the home. The fabulous architectural design is the first step, but what elements are you going to include to complete the end visual? Preparation of the MEP plans (mechanical and electrical layouts), to incorporating the chosen fixtures and fittings, is invaluable to defining the end look of your home and assisting in the tender process. You will get an accurate budget for the proposed works before you start work on site and you will have the freedom to adjust according to any budget restraints you may have. MJA have vast product knowledge that will assist and guide you to identify the materials and detail needed to assist you with the tender process for your builder.

Garden Buildings & Hard Feature Landscaping

You may not have heard of or even considered hard landscaping especially if you’re just getting into this exciting stage of your new home. It is important to take this into consideration during the design process so there is a seamless connection between garden and home. Landscape architects are extremely talented but it is an expensive exercise. When engaging with MJA we can incorporate the hard landscaping features into the overall design vision and work with a landscaper who can then propose appropriate planting if this is required. Hardscape will include details such as retaining walls, pathways or patios, outdoor summer kitchens, BBQ’s, fire-pit’s, fencing, pergolas, water features, jacuzzi’s and gazebos. All of which provide the perfect addition of entertainment or comfort to your dream home.
